Design Engineer
Product design for the Truwo Products line — a consumer range in development. You will take objects from first sketch to production drawing, working with the Head of Product Engineering and the founder, and you will own the design through tooling, pilot build and launch.
What you will do
- Concept development: sketches, form studies, quick physical mock-ups.
- Detailed mechanical design in parametric CAD, with full drawing packages and GD&T.
- Design for manufacture: material selection, tolerance analysis, tooling review with suppliers.
- Prototype builds and validation: test plans, fixtures, measurement, iteration.
- Supplier engagement for tooling and first-article parts; review of samples against drawing.
- Documentation that a factory can build from without you in the room.
What you bring
- A mechanical engineering degree, or equivalent evidence.
- Fluency in a parametric CAD tool — SolidWorks, Fusion, Creo or NX.
- At least one physical product taken through tooling to production, in any category.
- Comfort with metals and plastics processes: machining, sheet, casting, injection moulding.
- A portfolio that shows how you think, not only what you drew.
- The habit of finishing — the last five percent of a design is where most of the quality lives.
- Some travel — around 10–15%, to suppliers and tooling shops when a part is being made.
